Land & Equity Acknowledgement

Ignited Outdoor School and Holistic Learning Centre Inc. recognizes and acknowledges the lands originally used and occupied by the First Peoples of the Williams Treaties First Nations and other Indigenous Peoples, and we would like to thank them for sharing and caring for this land.
We would also like to acknowledge the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation as EG’s closest First Nation community and recognize the unique relationship the Chippewas have with the lands and waters of this territory. They are the water protectors and environmental stewards of these lands, and we join them in these responsibilities.
Ignited Outdoor School and Holistic Learning Centre takes great responsibility in ensuring all people, regardless of age, culture, economic status, gender, gender identity, physical ability, race, or sexual orientation – have the right to equity in the outdoors and in the world. We are committed to creating programs where all people feel safe to explore, roam, play and connect with nature. We will commit to this by:

  • Including diverse voices and perspectives,
  • Identifying, minimizing, and removing barriers to full participation through our Tuition & Equity Program,
  • Cultivating an inclusive space for diverse representation of staff, participants, and other community members,
  • Beginning each session with a land acknowledgement, and when possible include the voices of participant children,
  • Close operations on Truth and Reconciliation Day to allow staff to attend local events,
  • Continuously work to build relationships with the local First Nation Communities and the local Friendship Centres,
  • Annually review these goals and our success in meeting them.

Tuition & Equity Program

We understand that our programs may not always be accessible to all families. In an effort to make our programs more accessible, we have developed our Tuition & Equity Program, made up of generous donations by local families/businesses, fundraising efforts, sliding scale and service exchanges to help support the needs of our local children.

Pay a Higher Fee

Sliding Scale can also slide UP! Ignited Learning Centre fee options are designed to recognize, anticipate, and correct disparities in access to wealth. If you are inspired by the ILC commitment to making programs available for everybody, and you’d like to contribute financially, you have options:

  • Add a donation at Checkout
  • Become a monthly or one time donor
  • Become a Local Business Sponsor

If you are interested in donating to this cause, 100% of your donation will go directly to this worthy cause. As we are not a registered charity, there will be no tax receipt for this donation. As a sponsor you will receive quarterly emails with all the work we are doing at Ignited Learning Centre and where your donations have specifically been supporting. Your donations will support our Tuition & Equity Program as well as buying extra outdoor gear for children who may need it.
